1819: FOUNDING OF SINGAPORE

The British sign a treaty with Temenggong Abdul
Rahman and Sultan Hussein Shah. The treaty gives
the British permission to set up trading settlements.
This marks the founding of modern Singapore.

1952: ELIZABETH BECOMES QUEEN

On her father, King George VI's passing,
Princess Elizabeth succeeded the crown and
eventually became Queen Elizabeth II
at the tender age of twenty-seven.
