Today, buddhists from all around the world celebratethis very important occasion with great ceremonial ritual,commemorating the birth and enlightenment of Buddha andhis entry into Nirvana. Monks will spend the day chantingthe sutras while devotees visit the temples to pray,meditate and to make their offerings.
Acts of generosity known as dana are alsoobserved including the freeing of caged birds &animals and giving alms to the poor & needy.
So, as Vesak Day kicks in, let us wishall our buddhists friends and readersout there, a Happy Vesak Day.
