Praying For Myanmar

A TRADEGY UNFOLDS

If you don't already know, two fridays ago,
cyclone Nargis hit the coast of Myanmar,
and devastated large parts of the low-lying
delta region of the Irrawaddy River.

Cyclone Nargis

The largest city, Yangon was battered for over
ten hours by the storm. Homes were flattened, more
sturdy structures damaged, trees uprooted and power
lines downed. In rural parts of the country up to
95 per cent of all homes were destroyed.

The Aftermath

The current death toll has been estimated to be
more than 100,000 and up to 1 million people have
been displaced from the aftermath of the storm.

1 Million And Counting...

Come watch this video clip, filmed by Al Jazeera,
as they bring you live footages from the affected
areas and report on the situation in Myanmar.

The current situation isn't looking rosy and ten days
on, rescue efforts are still having trouble gaining access
to affected areas as well as the flow of aid which is being
impeded by the government's intervention.

The Red Cross

We can only hope for a quick resolution to
ending this terrible crisis and pray for the people
of Burma as they go through this difficult time.
