Praying For Good Grades

JAPAN'S annual season of entrance exams
to schools and universities have begun,
similiar to our 'O', 'N' & 'A' Level Exams.
(which thankfully, is over for all of us...)

Japanese Students

To ensure good luck, students and their
parents anxious for good results flock to the
Yushima-Tenjin Shrine in Central Tokyo.

Yushima-Tenjin Shrine

They write down their hopes and wishes for
examination success on small wooden plaques
called "Emma" and hang them en masse in
designated ares within the shrine compund.

Emma Plaques

It is said that the deity at this particular shrine
is known as a Guardian for Scholarship,
bringing good luck to anyone who visits it.

I went there once to wish myself
good grades for my examinations...
among other silly things as well. Lol.
