JAPAN'S annual season of entrance examsto schools and universities have begun, similiar to our 'O', 'N' & 'A' Level Exams.(which thankfully, is over for all of us...)
To ensure good luck, students and theirparents anxious for good results flock to theYushima-Tenjin Shrine in Central Tokyo.
They write down their hopes and wishes forexamination success on small wooden plaquescalled "Emma" and hang them en masse indesignated ares within the shrine compund.
It is said that the deity at this particular shrineis known as a Guardian for Scholarship, bringing good luck to anyone who visits it.
